In a readership survey, Young and Modern magazine asked teenage girls to rank what they wanted most from high school. More than 80% listed dating or a boyfriend as their top desire.* Romance was on the top of the list – ranking more important than extracurricular achievement, grades or even making the cheerleading team. What this states is that “boy-crazy” girls are the norm in high school.

Seventeen magazine surveyed its teen readership to find out how often they talk to their moms about kissing, making out and other sexual contact, and 95% of those surveyed said they never discuss the topic with their mothers.*

These are the two core issues that we are passionate about. Our online program, conferences and groups are designed to help a teen choose to not make a boyfriend her centerpiece. We encourage her to tap into her own gifts and talents and to embrace herself as a special young lady of beauty and honor. Plus, we teach her to appreciate her abilities and become a leader in the community.

Second, we are called to bridge the communication gap between mother and daughter. It makes me sick that 95% of teens do not openly discuss the celebration of their bodies and sex with their moms. I'd like to see mothers playing a huge part in this transformation from adolescent to teenager through young adulthood. It’s the critical link to wonderful heartfelt input yet also educated and informed answers. This is a journey for each of us. As moms reach out to their daughters, they will be healed from old wounds and empowered to navigate their daughter’s journey to understanding true love! Who better than MOM to get to the heart of the matter! Our job is to connect mother and daughter together in heartfelt conversations that are life changing and life binding!
